Is there a way to rename items? Not just for my own gratification, but for RP purposes, like trying to con someone into buying a greatsword +5, or creating actual "contracts."

DMs are capable of renaming items. This option was also availiable for the players not too long ago but it has been disabled after the staff recieved complains about some people who used it to add somewhat "offensive" names to items and placed those in the shops or at random locations.
