Hello everyone! I am very new to the server. I have not yet made a character - mostly I've just been going through the website and checking it out. So far everything looks pretty neat. But I did have a couple of questions that I (think) I already know the answer to, but I just want to make sure.
1st) Can I take levels in a prestige class without having to ask for DM permission/fill out an application? I already have an idea of what I want to make and I like to keep things pretty simple . Basically, I just wanna go 20 wiz/10 Red Wizard of Thay. Some servers do require you to fill out an application in order to take lvls in a prestige class. On this server, I've noticed that you need to get a DM to unlock certain PrC's (Such as Thayan Knight and Flaming Fist, both of which look super cool btw). Do I need permission to play a Red Wizard as well?
2nd) Are the crafting feats (such as craft magic arms and armor and craft wonderous item) utilized at all? Specifically, will craft wonderous item ever be helpful? Or does this server not do anything with those feats atm?
3rd) Compared to other servers, would you rank this one as being low, medium, or high, in terms of magic items/equipment? I know this question is a bit vague, but I was just kind of curious.
If anyone can find the time to answer any of these questions, I would be most appreciative! Thanks!

1. If you take any PRC levels after 20 you have to inform a DM and obtain permission. There are no app requirements for anything I'm aware of. (see rules thread)
2. Crafting is not yet implemented, the staff is working on it last I heard. Take the feats? Up to you, but bare in mind rebuilds just b/c you didn't feel like taking a feat in the past aren't really done unless your toon gets bugged or your vault gets damaged in a circumstance beyond your control.
3. The server is listed as 'low magic'. But, just me personally, I think it too be low to medium, depending what aspect your talking about. Equipment and weapon wise nothing beyond a +3 enchantment is permitted...*thinks*...items providing blanket immunities are illegal.
Welcome to the server, these answers are as I understand them...but just trying to be helpful.

1. all classes are open, except those 2. you just have to have 3 levels in a class by level 20. and if you want to pick a class after level 20, you have to send a PM to a DM about it, and you need 3 levels by level 30. 2. crafting isnt in yet. it has been said that they are working on a crafting system. but nothing is set in stone yet. 3. i would say low/medium. as low would be +1. but there are some +3 gear. but various + 3 gear is rare. and only 1 +4 item. so it definetly isnt a high magic gear server... but the server is still high in magic. but there are several topic's about that

Hello and welcome to our community.
First I would like to encourage you to not be afraid to make a character and jump right in. I think u will see many wonderful and appealing aspects of this server simply by just walking through town and chatting with some folk in the taverns or walking about as well.
I do not THINK u need to clear that class but I could be wrong. I do know that it is a role-playing server so please build a character concept based on the vision of whatever vision u have. But with classes you MUST put 3 levels into each class by the time you reach level 20. If you plan to take a new class after level 20 you MUST consult a DM about your intended progression.
Magic...well, in all honesty, this is classed as a low-mid magic world. But as of now +3 items are the best. GREAT gear is hard to come by and the good stuff is generally rewarded by DMs in wonderful events. I have some great gear but it took me a loooooong time to get it. And please know BGSCC does not have a full crafting system to date. Well, not really a crafting system really, more of a way to take certain creature parts and grind them down into weak potions or a few coin.
I have been here for a bit now and we have good strong RP, fun events, a relaxed paced atmosphere for which to allow everyone 'room' to do their thing. I would encourage you to come to our PW if you like Forgotten Realms lore, Role-playing, and NWN2 in general. From what I poked around with PWs they are all 'flawed' and each has their own strengths and auar the players give them. All one can do is take the time to experience ours.
Again, welcome and good luck!

1. Yes, for the most part, except perhaps Harper Agent.
2. Crafting feats are not utilized presently although stories of a custom crafting system being worked on by scripters/devs have been around for ages.
3. Magic items/equipment are what I would call medium magic although I am sure others would have a different opinion. Most bonuses are capped at +3, at least from what I have seen although, again, rumors of +4 items being on the way are present in several threads.

the only one you neeed to ask is permission for is the Thayan knight flaming fist patrolman and you have to be a flaming fist that is a MUST no exceptions all other prestige classes fair game
PS reds are Hated on the server so you plan to play one beware of that

Wow, thank you so much everyone for all your input! I definitely feel like I got a much better idea now and I think I understand the answers to my questions. I was planning on just going 20 wiz 10 red wiz, and all the red wiz lvls would be taken (and finished) before reaching 20. Then after 20, I would just take more lvls in wiz (so my 21 lvl would be my 11th lvl of wiz, for example). Like I said, I like to keep things pretty straightforward. I'm also pleased to hear that its a low magic-sever - that just fits my personal taste is all. As one of you already pointed out, the best way to experience a server is to just make a character and jump right in. I'm excited to try it out this weekend! And on the note of the Red Wizards being hated - thanks for the heads up. Again, this is just my personal taste as a player, but I prefer it that way. Thanks again!
