A hooded Svirfneblin was seen speaking with his kin, the merchant that stands regularly amongst the stalls in the heart of Sshamath. A few items in cloth bags were exchanged.

During the transaction, a small scroll of paper rolled out the back pack worn by the hooded Svirf, to sit near the Svirf Merchant's stall, but it's loss unseen by either.

After the two parted ways, any that would have come upon the scroll, and any that would choose to open it out of curiosity or what ever, would find a sketch, in a waxy crayon, of the city itself...in one way complete, but obviously not finished to represent the entirety of the known Underdark.

Leave it to a Svirfneblin to idle away his time with maps...

Upon a wall near tunnels that lead to the realm of the Svirfneblin that edge the great trade city Sshamath, a set of eight-footed tracks lead to the limestone, then, a pair of indentations of small feat once planted firmly upon the ground. Upon the wall, an carved then inked map appears, shadows marking the tiny edges and valleys into the stone, giving way to the connected paths nearby...

A few Dethek symbols are placed near the lower edge. Translated by those that could decipher them, it reads: Tunnels never end, but marked are the beginnings...

It seems that whatever is being placed here is growing to eventual completion.

The Svirfneblin mystic sits down upon an bucket-shaped stone, dragging a satchel to be at his feat. The satchel was once strapped to the back of a lizardman, now lying in a pool of greenish blood a stones throw away.

He opens the satchel, to peer inside, looking at what reward the encounter did grant him. To his surprise, he sees a large tome, wrapped inside a fabric cover. As he takes the book out of the satchel and into the dim light cast by the purple glow of mushroom light, the stone mystic listens closely to the sound of the echo of the tunnels to either side of his position. Nothing stirs, and he enjoys the moment of calm.

Opening the first page, the one who is called Olofalcon, lets the words seep into the castle of his mind...:

The mystic finishes the text, and closes the tome, slowly. His eyes reflect the dim light around him, but they are glassy—his mind lost into an imagination of places perhaps never seen by his people.

The pause lasts not long as he swings his own backpack down from his shoulders, opening a side pocket latched tight by leather string. Stubby fingers grasp a large scroll, and there upon the floor of these tunnels, he unfurls his growing masterwork. At the edge of where the ink marks end, he slowly draws a finger into the blank spaces...wondering just exactly how far is the distance between the known world...and that of the imagination...now given to him in words of shared wisdom.

A wall, for many, many months untouched, appears to have been wiped free of dust...the faded lines carved and marked with ink, once again catching the unnatural light cast by the deep earth fungus growing within the caverns.

Spider webs are left to hang about the limestone, untouched....
